Nexgen Partners with Independence High School Drum Corps
Nexgen is thrilled to partner with the talented Independence High School Drum Corps since November 2023.
Working with the Drum Corps, band coordinators, and Principal Omar Longsworth has been a true pleasure. From the beginning, Mr. Longsworth prioritized infrastructure development, believing that “If you have the right infrastructure, then quality education will follow.” His leadership led to significant upgrades to computer labs, science labs, kitchen facilities, and classrooms, enriching the educational experience at IHS.
Independence High School offers enriching programs like woodshop, agriculture, and music, fostering a dynamic and creative learning environment. The Drum Corps, a standout program, emerged from the school’s dedication to exposing students to new opportunities. Inspired by the Belize Band Fest, the faculty invested in equipment, igniting students’ interest in music and performance.
In 2023, the Drum Corps made their debut at the Band Fest and won their division, becoming National Drum Corps champions.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Longsworth, the students, teachers, and band coordinators Joel Simpson and Tiana Felix. Nexgen looks forward to future collaborations with the Independence High School Drum Corps.
