Red Creek, Cayo District – August 12, 2025 – Over the past week, Nexgen, with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology, and the Miss Universe Belize Foundation Ltd., continued its annual back-to-school backpack drive with donations to various schools in the west and south. The donation is a part of a series by the company to give students a helping hand for the start of the new school year. For this next round of donations, the bags were handed out by Miss Universe Belize 2025, Isabella Zabaneh. A total of 600 backpacks will be distributed to various schools throughout the month of August.
On Friday, August 8, 2025, 200 bags were distributed to students of San Felipe Government School and Medina Bank Government School. The students at each of these Toledo District schools welcomed Miss Universe Belize with open arms, bright smiles, and warm cheers of “Bella fi Belize”. In turn, Miss Universe Belize sat with the students and gave them words of upliftment with a reminder that the students are “capable, unstoppable, bold, smart, and loyal”. She remarked that one of the greatest privileges of her life was to encourage students to “step boldly into their futures.” Another 100 bags were provided to two schools in the Stann Creek Communities of San Felipe and Santa Cruz. On Saturday, 100 more bags were provided to students in the Cayo villages of Duck Run 1, Buena Vista, and Iguana Creek.
Remarking on the event’s success, Nexgen’s Marketing Manager, Karen Novelo noted that the bags symbolize the company’s commitment to its social responsibility. “Nexgen’s mission is to transform lives and by investing in children now by providing this support, Nexgen is doing its part to build lasting foundations for vibrant communities for a lifetime”, Novelo added. Nexgen will partner to distribute bags to students living in rural communities in the Belize, Orange Walk, and Corozal Districts on the weekend of August 15 and 16, 2025.
